​​Is your beginners' MMA class suitable for me?

​Our beginners’ MMA class is designed for those from complete beginners to those with limited experience - you do not need any prior mixed martial arts experience to take part.

 

There are no fitness or skill levels requirements for this class; we will help you to develop these skills throughout your attendance. All ages, genders and sizes are welcome to learn MMA with us.

What can I expect to learn?

The MMA beginners' class is an introduction to the sport of mixed martial arts and will give you the foundation to move with confidence into any of our mixed level classes on the timetable. 

​

In this class you will be taught how to perform techniques with a partner and work up to light, technical sparring. You will gain the fitness levels and knowledge of important fundamentals required to progress with MMA training. Some of the areas we develop your skills in are: 

​

Striking

  • Correctly throwing strikes with proper technique, both as individual strikes and combinations.

  • Defending yourself from incoming strikes through blocking or evading.

  • Improving your stance and footwork so that you have a great foundation for fighting on your feet.

Clinching

  • Entering and exiting the clinch position with proper technique.

  • Attacking with strikes and defending them from the clinch.

  • Transitioning into a takedown to get your opponent to the ground.

​

Groundwork

  • Understanding basic ground positions, such as guard and mount.

  • Maintaining a dominant position on the ground to attack your opponent through strikes and submissions.

  • Defending yourself and escaping from weaker positions.

Will this class improve my fitness levels for MMA?

Our beginners’ MMA class will improve your fitness levels and leave you ready to take on the other classes that we provide. MMA is a sport which engages your whole body, and, if you’re consistent with your training, you should quickly start to see improvements to your strength and conditioning.

BEGINNERS' MMA PACKAGE - NEXT INTAKE 6th JANUARY 2025

 

Our beginners’ MMA package includes 12 sessions of expert training (3 sessions per week for 4 weeks) by professional MMA fighter Jack Claffey.

  • You will also receive MMA gloves, shin guards, a mouth guard, and a training booklet explaining positions and techniques.

  • The cost of our beginners’ MMA package is only £150 (this fee is non-refundable).

  • ​Our class uses a rolling syllabus. Once you graduate from your 4 weeks of training you will be automatically enrolled onto our £85 membership plan, which will give unlimited access to any of our martial arts classes (you can opt out of this before graduation).
